Description: | Born as Rahr's seasonal staple, Iron Thistle, Iron Joe has been an elusive older brother for a few years where the folks at Rahr & Sons have teamed up with Avoca Coffee, a local artisanal coffee roaster, adding a seasonally picked fresh roasted coffee bean to give it a wonderfully balanced coffee flavor. In a special twist for 2014, a small portion of what was slated to become Iron Joe was barrel aged in whiskey barrels and blended back in creating this one of a kind beer. Rich roasted malts meld with a huge coffee backbone giving this brew a bigger than usual body while the barrel adds a subtle hint of vanilla and a slick lingering taste that sticks with you for awhile. Decadent and worth the chase. 8% ABV | |
