Description: | Though Porters are typically in the ale family, the Baltic Porter is fermented cool with a lager yeast strain, and then stored cold for several months. The colder fermentation allows the intricate malt profile to stand at the forefront and provide a crisp, clean body and finish to create a dark, drinkable roasty brew. This mythical beast has a deep, opaque garnet body with a thick tan head. Expect aromas of plum, chocolate, black cherries, coffee, with hints of toffee, caramel, and a nutty, deep toastiness. The flavor is full of dried, dark fruits and complex roasted malts with hints of caramel, black currant, licorice, and a touch of molasses. There is a slight spicy hop finish interlaced with alcohol, leaving a nice, oily mouthfeel. 9.5% ABV | |
