Originally brewed to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Arrogant Bastard Ale, Double Bastard Ale debuted in November 1998 as an amped-up version of that already aggressive beer. This heavy ale is appreciated by only a few. It pours a deep gold with ruby red highlights, subtle sweetness in the aroma, hints of citrus and brown sugar as it warms. Big sweet malt presence, caramel, toffee, and robust raisin with date notes. Big hop taste and finish for balance, but smoother than Arrogant Bastard. Strong and lingering warming alcohol finish but not over bearing alcoholic taste as its aging has smoothed it out. 11% ABV
