Description: | Brewed specifially for an increasingly rare barrel aging process -- Aging on disclosed barrels. That means we know the origin of the barrel. Odell teamed with Fort Collins' Old Elk Distillery to create this Bourbon Barrel Stout. Pours deep opaque mahogany. The Nose still retains a lot of the base beer qualities including heavy malted chocolate, espresso and even a slight pine bitterness. The taste follows suit, with the base Imperial Russian Stout shining through with heavy bitter black coffee and dark unsweetened cacao. The booze comes through mid taste with notes of tobacco, oak and sticky toffee. Medium carbonation keeps the beer crisp and cuts some heft. Molasses and chocolate syrup on the finish. | |
