Description: | This dopplebock is barrel aged in Armagnac brandy barrels. The color is a deep mahogany with ruby highlights. Nose is boozy and full of caramelized sugar, dried cherries, sweet caramel and molasses. Initial taste is heavy on sweet dark cherries and fermented sweet plum. The mouthfeel is a bit thinner than you might expect from a barrel aged beer because at it's base, this is still a lager. The lack of heft does give the beer a very drinkable quality that allows you to discover more nuanced flavors of oak, raspberry, vanilla, tobacco and leather. Finishes relatively dry with berry juice sweetness lingering on the palate. 10% abv | |
