This is the barrel aged version of Brash Vulgar Display of Power.  Like it's base beer, this beer's name has roots in American heavy metal.  Hammer Smashed takes it's title from Cannibal Corpse's 1992 track of the same name.  Despite it's staggering 15% ABV, the beer only hints at it's heft in the aroma, with a slight warming whiskey note on the nose underneath layers of baker's cocoa, vanilla, charred oak, marshmallow fluff and espresso. The body is full and silky smooth. Deep sweet notes  of carmelized sugar, dark chocolate and brown sugar give way to dry, oaky bourbon notes of cherry, leather & vanilla . Medium yet restrained carbonation helps keep the flavors crisp and nuanced.  Warming alcohol leaves a boozy finish with caramel and brownsugar lingering.
